MAMIE VAN DOREN - Born Joan Olander on February 6, 1931 in Rowena, South Dakota, this perennial "bad girl" of the fifties traveled a long way from her farm girl roots. Signed as a contract player with Universal International in 1953, she played minor roles in a series of forgettable films, and became more well known for ample endowments and "bullet bra" than her acting skills. A series of teen exploitation movies with rock & roll soundtracks gained her a reputation as "Queen of the B's", and that coupled with her well chronicled and notorious private life, propelled her to the upper strata of cinema sexpots. Nude layouts, singing appearances and live theatre performances followed in the sixties, and after a brief hiatus from the business she roared back with gusto in the 1980s. An autobiography, home video and tv appearances, and a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame kept her busy during that period, and she continues to perform even today with a face lift and breast implants at age 61.
